Pino Daeni (1939–2010)
Pino Daeni (1939–2010), known simply as Pino, was an Italian-American painter whose romantic, softly impressionistic depictions of women became among the most collected figurative works of the late 20th century. Trained in the Italian classical tradition and informed by the great masters of European painting, Pino brought intimacy, light, and timeless femininity to every canvas.
Pino's career spanned book-cover commissions for major publishers — he illustrated thousands — to a beloved fine-art practice that earned him an international collector base. His paintings continue to appreciate in the secondary market, and his signed editions remain especially sought after by collectors building a romantic-figurative collection.
About the Artist
Pino, born Giuseppe Dangelico in Bari, Italy, in 1939, was an acclaimed artist whose work has captivated audiences with its romanticism, emotion, and vibrant color palette. Trained at the prestigious Academy of Fine Arts of Brera in Milan, Pino honed his skills in classical art techniques while developing a unique style that would later define his career.
In 1978, Pino emigrated to the United States, where he quickly gained recognition as one of the most prolific and sought-after book cover illustrators. His masterful depictions of feminine beauty graced the covers of over 3,000 romance novels. Despite his success in commercial art, Pino was driven by a desire to express his true artistic vision, leading him to transition into fine art.
Pino passed away in 2010, but his legacy continues through his enduring works of art, which remain a testament to his extraordinary talent and his ability to capture the essence of human emotion on canvas.
