Wyland
Wyland (Robert Wyland) is the most internationally celebrated marine life artist of his generation. Best known for his "Whaling Walls" — 100 monumental public murals of whales, dolphins, and ocean life painted in cities across all seven continents — Wyland has spent his career using art to advocate for ocean conservation and marine awareness.
Wyland's work is held in museum collections, government buildings, and private collections worldwide. He has been honored by the United Nations and the Sierra Club, and his Wyland Foundation has reached millions of students with environmental education programs. His paintings of whales, dolphins, and reef life sit at the intersection of fine art, scientific accuracy, and conservation activism.
About the Artist
Wyland (Robert Wyland) is one of the most internationally recognized marine-life artists of the modern era. Born in Detroit in 1956, he gained global attention with the launch of his “Whaling Walls” project — a series of more than 100 monumental ocean murals painted on public buildings across the world, completed over three decades and dedicated to public awareness of marine conservation.
His studio practice spans painting, bronze sculpture, photography, and printmaking, all centered on the life of the world's oceans. Whales, dolphins, sharks, and reef ecosystems appear in vibrant, luminous works whose technical mastery and emotional warmth have made Wyland one of the most collected wildlife artists alive.
Beyond the studio, Wyland founded the Wyland Foundation, which supports children's environmental education and global ocean preservation initiatives. His work is held in private collections, public spaces, museums, and aquariums around the world, and he has been recognized by the United Nations, the Sierra Club, and numerous environmental and arts organizations.
At Gol Art we present Wyland originals and limited editions across his most collected marine series. Each piece is personally inspected and authenticated.
